Personal vs. Business Branding | Light Rae Design

I?m often asked about the difference between personal and business branding.

You may have seen some people use their name as their website domain and business name, and photo to boost their identity, even as a sort-of logo for their brand, while others ?use a logo/brandmark with an name that describes their business.

For example, if you?re a yoga instructor, a personal branded business might be a signature photo, or a series of photos of you in a variety of Asanas with your name in a eloquently-styled combination of one or two harmonizing fonts and a concise tagline to illustrate why you bring yoga into the world. If you?re more business branded, your logo may have a silhouetted yoga poised figure cleverly woven into your styled name fonts, for example. Maybe arms up starts to morph into the ?Y? of ?Yoga.?

Using your own name and your photo in your brand is considered personal branding.

What are some of the effects of being personally branded?

Authenticity, Connection & Personality.

{Mmmm? those words are a sonnet within my heart.}

Baring your own authenticity is a bold statement. Your level of genuineness will stand out from the rest. It?s just more difficult for big biz to be that authentic with all the multiple personalities coming through. You can also be more intimate and magnetize your connection as you retain the style of your own voice and life?s point of view. Stay true and connected to your deepest life message, allowing that to come forth as a business owner. Continually reconnect and check-in to see if your options are attuned with your core message in a relevant way. This way, you can continually remain in your brand and authentic for your right people.

It?s wonderful for your small business to really let the power of your unique personality to come through. Being magnetic and empowered in your own smaller brand makes it so much easier to speak through one channel. ?An irresistibly unique brand contributes big-time to the appeal factor for potentially right clients. That in turn keeps them magnetized and drawn in to keep coming back, upping their loyalty to you.

Ahhh, did I hear the something about lasting relationship for you?

Since you can lay it out as the you-centerpiece behind your brand, you?ve personalized it, made it stand out and shine your brightest, and have also welcomed your people in. Often times personally branded FEELS more welcoming as far as receiving customer service and quality attention for your clients. And likely there is more personable customer service.

Did I mention you?re the one-and-only you?

Your face is unique, let it speak for itself.

Overall people often don?t resonate with a company without a face. Whether it?s your physical face or a symbol or glyph, you?re showing emotion, intention, and other evocation of your main message. When you add your face in and personally brand yourself through photos and using your name {along with other specific branding elements that help define you}, people can relate to a human and connect and begin care more about you.

Shine your brilliance forth ? just be your unique awesome. The rest will follow. It sounds simplified, but if you really are being true to yourself, then your dream audience, the ones that are waiting just for you, will become magnetic. Branding becomes simpler with more ease.

Then there?s a favorite solution is ?personal business branding? utilizing the combination of both personal and biz. I use my custom lotus glyph in my logo which holds deep meaning for me and you, while also presenting my face {the literal one with the brown eyes, mouth, etc.} throughout my brand. It?s intention is to say, ?I?m here for you and our connection is extremely important to me.?
